Host CCI and Triton made it to the finals

KATHMANDU:
Hosts Classic College International (CCI) ‘A’ and Triton International College advanced to the final of the Spice Classic Twenty20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Binod Bhandari scored a fluent century as CCI outplayed Tribhuvan University (TU) by 140 runs. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, CCI scored a mammoth 198-3 in their allotted 20 overs and restricted TUfor 58 runs in 12.1 overs.

National team player Binod, who was later adjudged the man-of-the-match, smashed 107 off just 61 deliveries with 10 fours and seven sixes. Also, Naresh Budhayer chipped in 28-ball 39 that included three sixes and a four, while Sagar Pun hit four fours and a six in his 24-ball 35 and Rahul BK remained unbeaten on 12 off just six balls that included a bundary. Pramod Basnet picked up two wickets, while Lal Bahadur Adhikari claimed one for TU.

In reply, none of the TU batsmen could play freely against the disciplined bowling attack of CCI. Suman Uday was the only TU batsman to score in double figures for TU, with 18 off 12 balls that included four fours.

Rahul Pratap Singh was the pick of the CCI bowlers with the figures of 3-31 from four overs, while Rahul BK (2-2), Bhuwan Karki (2-4) and Naresh (2-12) shared six wickets among them.

In the second semi-final match, an allround performance from Manjeet Shrestha guided Triton to a 14-run win over Pentagon International College. Opting to bat first, Triton were bowled out for 124 runs in 18.5 overs and packed Pentagon for 110 in the penultimate ball of the innings.

Manjeet scored 26-ball 39 with four fours and a six, while Santosh Baral (19), Amit Shrestha (18) and Robin Joshi (12) added valuable runs to the Triton total. Binod Chhetry (2-17), Dinesh Agri (2-22), Bikram Sob (2-27) and Keshav Pant (2-33) snared two wickets apiece for Pentagon.

In reply, Shakti Bhandari scored a quick fire 47 off 43 balls including eight fours and a six. Dinesh Agri and Binod Chhetry contributed 13 each and Padam KC added 11 runs for Pentagon. Santosh Baral claimed (3-21), while Prashanna Shakya (2-18), man-of-the-match Manjeet (2-22) and Rajesh Pulami (2-26) shared six wickets among them.

The final is scheduled for Tuesday.
