Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Kathmandu Khel Mandal(KKM) registered an easy victory of 57 runs over Dillibazar Cricket Club in a final match of the Kathmandu District Senior Selection Tournament here at Tribhuwan University Ground, Kirtipur today.
Winning the toss, KKM entered to bat first and scored a good totals of 179 runs losing five wickets off the allotted 20 overs. 47 runs opening stand was shared among the openers Niraj Basnet and Niraj Bhattarai.
Nirmal Simangaida top scored with 39 runs off 31 balls with four fours before being sent caught. Simangaida also shared a 75 runs partnership with Ashish KC for third wicket. KC added 35 off 36 deliveries. Opener batsman duo, Basnet and Bhattarai scored 23 and 18 runs respectively with three boundaries each. Basnet faced 14 balls while Bhattarai played 15 balls. Saroj Pathak remained unbeaten at 28 runs hitting a six.
Roshan Shrestha picked up two wickets while Sudesh Shrestha, Biswas Manandhar and Sabindra Joshi claimed wicket apiece.
In reply, Dillibazar Cricket Club had to close their innings with 122 runs on board. They lost eight wickets during the run chase. Dillibazar had a good start though as Diwash Rana and Subash Gautam started the innings with a 36 runs opening partnership. But, this could not continue as Rana was trapped leg before wicket. Rana made 16-balls 11 with a boundary. Rabin Regmi who joined Gautam in crease was sent bowled for just four runs and Gautam later scored 23 runs off 27 deliveries with four fours and was bowled by Santosh KC.
Number four batsman Biswas Manandhar remained not out at 57 runs while none of the remaining batsman made double digit figure.
Man of the match Santosh KC remained as the pick of the bowler with three wickets. Niraj Basnet and Niraj Bhattarai shared four wickets between them, two wicket each while Nirmal Simangaida took a wicket.
Niraj Basnet from KKM was adjudged as best batsman with 142 runs from 4 matches. Santosh KC from KKM was adjudged the best bowler with 8 wickets from 4 matches and Nirmal Simangaida from the same team, KKM took away the player of the series award. Simangaida, scored 161 runs from 4 matches annd picked up 8 wickets from 16 overs conceding 91 runs.
Prizes were given by Guest Diwakar Ghale (Member of CAN, President of Kathmandu District Cricket Association), Amit Bir Pandey (Member of CAN) and others.
