APF and Janakpur win their respective matches

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Departmental side APF and Region Number 7 Janakpur registered victories in the opening day of the Wai Wai Women’s T20 National Cricket Tournament on Wednesday in Pokhara.

Sarita Magar claimed a hat rick as APF made an easy victory of ten wickets over the host Region Number 8 Pokhara at Rangasala Ground while in the Nagar Bikash Ground, Janakpur defeated Region Number 1 Biratnagar by 34 runs..

Pokhara was restricted to a meagre total of 31 runs as they entered to bat winning the toss at Rangasala Ground. Four wickets from Sarita Magar, two each from Rubina Chhetri, Karuna Bhandari and a wicket from Sonu Khadka troubled the Pokhareli batsman as they lost nine wickets. Aarati Bidari top scored for Pokhara with 8 runs. While, 13 extras were conceded.

In reply, APF chased the target in just 2.5 overs without losing a wicket. Madhu Thapa scored 9 runs while Sita Rana Magar made 13 runs.

Sarita Magar was awarded the player of the match for her match winning bowling performance that included four wickets and a maiden off her two overs spell. Magar conceded single run. Magar completed her hat rick in the 3rd, 4th and the 5th ball of the 19th over.

While at Nagar Bikash Ground, Janakpur chose to bat first and scored 75 runs losing seven wickets in allotted 20 overs. Mamta Chaudhary top scored with 17 runs. It was the day of run outs as three of the batsman from Janakpur were run out.

Anu Agrawal picked up three wickets while Ambika Budhathoki grabbed one for Biratnagar.

In reply, Biratnagar lost all of their wickets at the score of 41 runs. Rashmi Chaulagain scored 14 runs to remain as the only double digit scorer from the team.

Kritu Dahal picked up two wickets, Santoshi Chaudhary, Kabita Gautam and Anuradha Chaudhary claimed wicket apiece while five of the batsman were run out.

Mamtha Chaudhary was adjudged as the women of the match.

On Thursday, Biratnagar will take on Pokhara at Nagar Bikash Ground while Rangasala ground will see Region Number 5 Nepalgunj face APF.
