Namibia has concluded the Nepal tour without a single victory after a defeat against Scotland on Monday. The Eagles faced a defeat against both Scotland and Nepal in both matches. Gerhard Erausmus’ side fell 43 runs short in the last match of Nepal’s visit.

Invited to bat first at TU Cricket Ground, Scotland posted 221 runs before being bowled out in 48.4 overs. Christopher McBride scored the highest 47 runs while Tomas Mackintosh and skipper Richie Berrington contributed 34 and 32 runs respectively.

Ruben Trumpelmann continuing his great form grabbed his career-best five wickets for 30 runs. This is his second ODI fifer. Tangeni Lungameni pocketed a couple of wickets.

In reply, Namibia were wrapped up for 178 runs in 38.4 overs despite having a decent start. Being 112/2 at one stage, Namibia lost eight wickets for just 66 runs. Opener Lo-handre Louwrens scored 52 runs, while skipper Gerhard Erasmus and Zane Green assisted 43 and 25 runs. No special contribution from other batters saw a collapse for the African side.

Mark Watt pocketed four scalps while his fellow spinner Michael Leask grabbed three wickets. Brandon McMullen and Chris Greaves also picked up two and one wickets respectively.

Nepal now needs to win at least eight of the nine remaining matches to go past Namibia to grab a spot in World Cup 2023 Global Qualifiers, securing the third spot. For that, UAE also needs to beat Namibia in their remaining couple of matches and also fail to beat Nepal in any of the remaining four matches.
