23 all out: Nepal Women crumble to lowest total in T20

Cricnepal – Horror end for Nepal Women with their lowest T20 total of 23 in 16.2 overs against Sri Lanka in their second match of ongoing ACC Women’s Cup Twenty20 Asia Cup held at AIT Ground, Thailand today.

Sri Lanka invited Nepal to bat after winning the toss. With the degrading batting performance in the last couple of matches, Nepalese were all positive. They were bowled out for 63 against Thailand in the practice match and 47 against Pakistan in first group match. With such mindset, it was a tough ask to face another test nation.

As it was expected, Sri Lankan bowlers ripped the heart out of Nepal’s batting lineup and bundled them out for a lowest 23 runs. Only Opener Jyoti Pandey showed some signs of maturity with a score for 16 runs from 39 balls, rest went down like a ninepins. There was no resistance at all from the batters as six batswomen were dismissed without troubling the scorers.

For Sri Lanka, Sugandika Kumari(3.2-0-7-3) and Inoka Ranaweera(4-1-3-3) grabbed three wickets each while Oshadi Ranasinghe earned two wickets from her two overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka women achieved the target in 4.3 overs losing two wickets. Skipper Hasina Perara remained unbeaten for 17 runs with a boundary and a six.
