APF continue its winning momentum; Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Baitadi win

Armed Police Force (APF) finished as the group winner of the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament after pulling off a fourth consecutive victory on Saturday at Rangasala Ground, Pokhara.

APF had entered the semi final on Friday after they defeated Region Number 1 Biratnagar.

APF defeated Region Number 7 Janakpur by 64 runs.

Winning the toss, APF entered to bat first and put up a good total of 121 for 4 in 20 overs. Player of the match Sita Rana Magar scored 49 runs off 55 balls with six boundaries. While, Rubina Chhetri remained not out at 26 runs and Sarita Magar contributed a valuable 16 runs.

Santoshi Chaudhary, Kabita Gautam and Anuradha Chaudhary claimed a wicket each for Janakpur.

In reply Binu Budha Magar took three wickets, Sarita Magar grabbed two while Sonu Khadka, Rubina Chhetri and Neera Rajopadhayay picked up a wicket each as Janakpur was restricted to 57 for 8. Mamta Chaudhary top scored for Janakpur with 17 runs. While, Shova Ale scored 15 runs, to remain as only other batsman to score a double digit figure.

In the next match at Rangasala, Region Number 5 Nepalgunj claimed a win over the host Region Number 8 Pokhara. Nepalgunj scored 130 runs loosing three wickets in 20 overs and restricted Pokhara to 43 for 8 and won the match by a comfortable 87 runs.

Manisha Rawal scored 37 runs off 29 balls with five fours, Sanju Chaudhary added 36 off 46 with two boundaries, Trishna Singh added 15 and Geeta Gosai contributed 13 runs for Nepalgunj. While, Aarati Bidari, Pragya Nepali and Priya Gurung claimed wicket apiece.

In reply, Pokhara couldn’t bat good enough as they lost their 8 wickets without a good score. Sushila Gurung 11 and Aarati Bidari 10 were the only double digit scorers. Player of the match Trishna Singh claimed three wickets, Rekha BC picked two wickets while Samana Pun and Nary Thapa shared a wicket each for Nepalgunj.

In group A, Region Number 4 Bhairahawa and Region Number 6 Baitadi won their respective matches.

Bhairahawa defeated Region Number 2 Birgunj by 7 wickets while Baitadi beat Region Number 3 Kathmandu by 5 wickets.

Player of the match Indu Berma remained unbeaten at 20 runs as Bhairahawa chased the target of 82 runs easily in 12.3 overs. Saraswoti Pun also added a 19 runs on board for Bhairahawa. While, for Birgunj, Pushpa Aryal, Subhadra Adhikari and Sita Shrestha bagged a wicket each.

Earlier, with the help of 17 runs from Manisha Chaulagain, Birgunj had scored 81 runs in 18.4 overs losing all wickets. Indu Berma, Pooja Bhandari, Sudha Thapa and Soniya Poudel shared two wickets each for Bhairahawa.

In an another match, Baitadi won its second straight game to remain in the top of the points table of Group A. Kathmandu after winning the toss went to bat first but lost regular wickets and had to satisfy at the score of 43. 6 runs from Sangeeta Gauchan was the highest score from the team. Roshani Bohara claimed three wickets, Rekha Rawal, Chetana Bohara grabbed two wickets each while Anjali Chand took one for Baitadi.

In reply, Baitadi chased the target in 13.3 overs loosing 5 wickets. Player of the match Roshani Bohara scored 20 runs off 25 balls with two fours. Geeta Chudal and Shilu Rijal piced up two wickets each for Kathmandu.
