APF enters semi final; win for Nepalgunj, Baitadi and Kathmandu

Region Number 5 Nepalgunj, APF, Region Number 6 Baitadi and Region Number 3 Kathmandu won their respective matches in the third day of the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament in Pokhara.

At Nagar Bikash Ground, Nepalgunj defeated Region Number 7 Janakpur by 5 wickets and APF defeated Region Number 1 Biratnagar by 45 runs. While at Rangasala Ground, Baitadi defeated Region Number 2 Birgunj by 64 runs and Kathmandu defeated Region Number 4 Bhairahawa by 32 runs.

At Nagar Bikash Ground, in the morning, Janakpur won the toss and went into bat first but they had to struggle a lot and could manage to score only 45 runs losing all wickets in 17.5 overs. Shanti Chaudhary top scored with 8 runs while Usha Bhujel and Sarswoti Chaudhary each added 7 runs.

For Nepalgunj, Mamta Chaudhary, Trishna Singh, Samjhana Sharma and Nary Thapa picked up two wickets each while Annu KC claimed one.

In reply, Nepalgunj chased the target in 17.1 overs with player of the match Trishna Singh top scoring with 12 runs. Santoshi Chaudhary took two wickets while Kabita Gautam clamied one for Janakpur.

While in the day, APF registered a third straight win. APF finished their innings with the score of 90 for 8 after they went to bat first. Player of the match, Neera Rajopadhaya (19 off 28 balls) top scored for APF while Sita Rana Magar added 15 runs.

Neha Karki, Rashmi Chaulagain, Sabina Shrestha and Anu Agrawal grabbed two wickets each for Biratnagar.

In reply, Biratnagar were bowled out for 45 runs. Thanks to the two wickets each from Sonu Khadka, Rubina Chhetri and Karuna Bhandari. Sarita Magar also claimed a wicket for APF. For Birtanagar, Ambika Budhathoki and Sapana Shrestha scored 7 runs each, the top score for the team.

At Rangasala Ground, in the morning, Baitadi scored a good total of 132 runs for 5 batting first. Rekha Agrawal scored 56 runs off 50 balls while Roshani Bohara managed to score 32 runs, the top scorers from the team. Subhadra Adhikari picked up two wickets while Pushpa Aryal, Kushal Karki and Rojina Aryal claimed wicket apiece for Birgunj.

In reply, Birgunj was restricted to 68 runs for 8 in 20 overs. Rachana Aryal top scored with 15 runs and Manisha Chaulagain remained not out at 14 runs. None of the other scored the double digit score. Man of the match Rekha Rawal picked up four wickets, Chetana Bohara grabbed two wickets and Anjali Chand took one for Birgunj.

While in the day, Kathmandu won the toss and scored 111 runs for 3 on deciding to bat first. Shilu Rijal top scored with 26 runs while, Sangeeta Gauchan and Rabina Bhandari remained unbeaten at 22 runs each. Roji Rai added 14 runs. For Bhairahawa, Satisha Thapa, Babita Giri and Sudha Thapa shared a wicket each.

Bhairahawa in reply was bowled out for 79 runs. Geeta Chudal claimed three wickets, player of the match Sangeeta Gauchan picked up two wickets while Kamala Rai, Shilu Rijal and Sumina Maharjan shared a wicket each for Kathmandu. Indu Berma 15 and Nitu Bhandari 14 were the only batsman to score a double digitr figure.

After the end of the third day, Baitadi and Kathmandu lead Group A with one win each while in the group B, APF lead with three wins while Janakpur, Biratnagar and Nepalgunj each have a win.

On Friday at Rangasala Ground, Armed Police Force(APF) will play Region Number 7 Janakpur in the morning while Region Number 5 Nepalgunj will face Region Number 8 Pokhara in the day. In other matches, Region Number 2 Birgunj will play Region Number 4 Bhairahawa at Nagar Bikash Ground in the morning while in the day Region Number 3 Kathmandu will lock horns with Region Number 6 Baitadi.
