APF lifts Women’s T20 title

Armed Police Force(APF) lifted the title of the Wai wai Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament defeating the defending champion Region Number 5 Nepalgunj by 34 runs in the final on Wednesday.

APF won the toss and elected to bat first at Rangashala Ground.

With the top order batsman performing well, APF scored 110 runs in allotted 20 overs losing 5 wickets. Madhu Thapa and Sita Rana Magar shared an opening partnership of 47 runs before Magar was bowled by Rekha BC. Magar scored 11 runs off 23 balls with a four while player of the match Thapa scored 41 off 39 with six fours and a six before being stumped. Sarita Magar remained unbeaten at 22 runs off 35 balls.

Mamta Chaudhary, Rekha BC and Anu KC grabbed a wicket each for Nepalgunj.

In reply, Nepalgunj was restricted to 76 for 5 in 20 overs. Opener Laxmi Chaudhary scored 35 runs off 59 balls with a four. While, Trishna Singh contributed 17 runs off 39 balls with a four. None of the other batsman could score a double digit figure.

Sonu Khadka and Sarita Magar picked up two wickets each for APF.

Winners APF bagged away the cash prize of Rs. 25,000 with trophy while the runner up Nepalgunj was awarded with Rs. 15,000 and trophy.

Sita Rana Magar from APF was adjudged as the best batswoman while Sarita Magar from the same team bagged the best bowler award. Sita Rana Magar scored 111 runs off 4 matches with the strike rate of 72.55. While, Sarita Magar claimed 9 wickets at the economy rate of 2.06 off 4 matches bowling 5.2 overs and conceding 11 runs. Roshani Bohara from Region Number 6 Baitadi was adjudged the player of the series. Bohara scored 99 runs facing 155 balls in 4 matches and also picked up 6 wickets with the economy rate of 3.60.

Player of the series was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy while best batswoman and best bowler received Rs. 5000 each. Best batswoman was alos provided with the cricket bat.

Prizes were given by Chief Guest Indra Bahadur Thing (Treasurer of National Sports Council), Ashok Nath Pyakuryal (General Secretary of CAN), Raju Babu Shrestha (Treasurer of CAN), Diwakar Ghale (Member of CAN), Amit Bir Pandey (Member of CAN), Lal Babu Prasad (Assistant General Manager of C.G Foods) and others.
