APF register second win; Biratnagar beat host

APF and Region Number 1 Biratnagar secured easy victories in the second day of the Wai Wai Women’s National T20 Cricket Tournament in Pokhara on Thursday.

APF came up with a 53 runs win over Region Number 5 Nepalgunj while Biratnagar defeated Region Number 8 Pokhara by 4 runs. At Rangasaka Ground, APF scored 91 runs losing 5 wickets after they chose to bat first and later restricted Nepalgunj to 38 runs in 16.2 overs.

For APF, Sita Rana Magar remained not out at 34 runs off 64 balls being the top scorer while Rubina Chhetri scored 15 runs before being caught.

Trishna Singh took two wickets while Samjhana Sharma and Samana Pun claimed a wicket each for Nepalgunj.

In reply, three wickets from Karuna Bhandari, two wickets from Sonu Khadka, Sarita Magar and a wicket from player of the match Rubina Chhetri helped APF restrict Nepalgunj to a low score of 38 runs.

Mamta Thapa remained unbeaten at 10 runs while Trishna Singh scored 7 runs for Nepalgunj.

While, at Nagar Bikash Ground, Biratnagar made a score of 68 runs in 20 overs losing six wickets. Rashmi Chaulagain scored 26 runs off 34 balls with three fours before being run out.

Aarati Bidari and Pragya Pokhrel claimed two wickets each while Arya Aryal picked up a wicket for Pokhara.

In reply Pokhara scored only 64 runs, 4 runs short off the target. Sushila Gurung top scored 23 runs before being bowled. Pragya Pokhrel contirbuted 15 runs. 17 extras were conceded by Biratnagar.

Neha Karki, player of the match Rashmi Chaulagain grabbed two wickets each while Sapan Shrestha took a wicket for Biratnagar.

After the end of second day, APF lead the Group B points table with two straight wins while Region Number 7 Janakpur and Biratnagar each have a win.

On Friday at Rangasala Ground, Region Number 2 Birgunj will play Region Number 6 Baitadi in the morning while Region Number 3 Kathmandu will face Region Number 4 Bhairahawa in the day. In other matches, Nepalgunj will play Region Number 7 Janakpur at Nagar Bikash Ground in the morning while in the day Biratnagar will lock horns with Armed Police Force(APF).
