Army, Banke, Lumbini and Bagmati Enter Semis

Kathmandu-
Defending champions Lumbini and Bagmati won their respective matches today to join Army and Banke un the semis  of 5th National Blind Cricket Tournament.

Lumbini registered second win in a row  defeating Kaski by 46 runs. Batting first riding on Khema Nanda Gaire’s half century Lumbini posted 187 runs in allotted 20 overs. In reply Kaski were folded for 141 runs. Gaire was awarded the player of the match for his 54 runs.

In the other match played today at Pulchowk-Bagmati defeated Kanchanpur by 4 wickets. Winning the toss and batting first Kanchanpur posted formidable 169 runs in 20 overs but Bagmati riding on Rajendra Dhital quick fire 68 runs got to the total with 4.5 overs to spare. Playing their debut one day Kanchanpur having lost to Banke on Friday were win less in the tournament. Bagmati with the win went into the semis as runners up in the group.

Banke had qualified for the semis yesterday winning their first two games. Banke had cruised past Bagmati in the first match on Friday  and defeated Kanchanpur by massive 150 runs in an 11 over match on Saturday. Batting first Banke with Padam Badala’s 84 runs posted 225 runs. Padam is the same person who had struck the first six of Blind Cricket’s history on day one of the tournament.  He smacked 18 fours against Kanchanpur on Saturday. In reply Kanchanpur managed just 75 runs in the 11 overs.

Similarly with Kaski losing both matches in the tournament-Army who had defeated Kaski on Friday also moved to semis. Batting first Kaski posted 177 runs in 20 overs which Army chased with 8 balls to spare. Jiwan Gurung who scored 11 runs and picked up 2 wickets for Army got the player of the match.
