CAN announce the squad for U-19 World Cup qualifiers

The Cricket Association of Nepal has unveiled the 14-man squad for the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifiers. The tournament is set to be played in UAE, with the winner confirming the spot in U-19 World Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka.

Although the final squad has been unveiled, the team captain is yet to be confirmed. Dev Khanal and Gulshan Jha, who has already played for the national team, are in the squad along with Arjun Kumal, Dipesh Kandel, Bishal Bikram Kc and Durgesh Gupta. The other eight players are called up for the first time.

Nepal, UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia and Singapore will battle in the tournament in February. Nepal has consistently been among the top associate members at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, qualifying on seven occasions and twice advancing to the second round (in 2000 and 2016). However, After missing out on the 2020 edition due to the D/L method, Nepal were forced out in the 2022 edition too.

Nepal’s Squad: Dev Khanal, Gulshan Jha, Arjun Kumal, Dipesh Kandel, Bishal Bikram Kc Durgesh Gupta, Dipak Bohara, Deepak Bohara, Uttam Thapa Magar, Dipak Dumre, Hemant Dhami, Subash Bhandari, Milan Bohara, Aakash Tripathi. 

Reserve: Tul Bahadur Thapa, Prajwal Thapa, Nirmal Thapa, Rajesh Yadav
