Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Monday announced a 15-member Nepal Under19 squad for the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup under the captaincy of Bhuwan Karki .
Ram Naresh Giri has been named vice-captain of the Nepali U-19 team. The ACC U-19 Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from December 28 to January 4. Karki and Giri played the ICC U-19 World Cup in Australia last year.
Bibhatsu Thapa, Yagyaman Kumal and Amit Shrestha have retained their places in the squad while the team has got many new faces. Prakash Bista, Lalit Singh Bhandari, Somesh Yadav, Siddhanta Lohani, Sushil Kandel, Sunil Dhamala, Raju Rijal, Sompal Kami, Prem Tamang and Arif Shekh are the new faces in the squad.
Nepal had booked its place in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup after finishing third in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup held in Malaysia in May.
The three, along with Karki and Giri, were members of the Nepali team that played in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup.
Meanwhile, Rahul Pratap Singh, Susan Bhari, Dileep Nath and Hari Shankar Shah have been placed as reserves in the squad.
Nepal, who finished third in ACC U-19 Elite Cup held in Malaysia in May has been drawn in Group A of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup alongside India, Pakistan and the host UAE.
Nepal will face Pakistan U-19 in its first match on December 28 and India U-19 on 29th. Nepal´s last group match is against UAE on 31st.
