CAN’s acting secretary Prashant Malla resign

The Acting Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Prashant Bikram Malla, has resigned from his post. As per one CAN board member, his resignation is still to be accepted.

After the resignation of Ashoknath Pyakurel as a secretary, Malla was appointed as acting secretary on October 2021.

Malla was the president of the Governing Council of the inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League. The League was full of controversies and faced huge criticism. Meanwhile, Two players were arrested on the charge of spot-fixing, and more investigation is going on.

Six central members left the CAN meeting on Tuesday, asking for the resignation of five committee members on moral grounds, including President Chatur Bahadur Chand. Seven Members were unhappy, citing the Nepal T20 League was full of controversies due to non-procedural decision-making and the arbitrariness of officials.

As a result, the meeting in Pokhara started in the evening, which was initially scheduled to start at noon. The gathering decided to revoke the suspension of star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.
