CEC Kathmandu and Kathmandu District clinch titles at NCCS Invitational Valley Cup

Pulsar CEC Kathmandu has secured the title of the NCCS Invitational Valley Cup Men’s T20 Tournament. Meanwhile, Kathmandu District Women have triumphed as champions in the Women’s Cricket category.

In the final of Men’s Cricket, CEC defeated Bhaktapur Cricket Center by 12 runs (in NORM method). Batting first, Bhaktapur posted 121/7 in 20 overs. Puran Thapa top scored with 53 runs whereas Arun Airee and Irshad Ahamad made 27 and 21 runs respectively.

Raj Bam picked up three wickets for CEC whilst Dayanand Mandal and Monsan Singh got two and one wicket respectively.

In response, CEC were 111/3 at the end of 16.1 overs and were adjudged victorious according to the norm method. Dipendra Rawat made an unbeaten 38 runs and was adjudged POTM. Shivam Tiwari also scored 38* whilst Rit Gautam added 19.

In the final of women’s cricket, Kathmandu district defeated Lalitpur district in the super over by eight runs to clinch the title. Lalitpur made 131/4 after a half-century from Yashu Pandey. She scored 56 runs whilst Sabika Yadav notched up 40.

Sanskriti Phuyal was a pick of a bowler grabbing two wickets. Bipisha Shahi and Ashmita Kharel also pocketed one wicket each.

In reply, Kathmandu also finished at 131 runs leading the game to super over. Bipisha Shahi made 35 runs whereas Krishma Gurung and Ashmita Kharel also added 21 and 20 runs respectively.

Sweta Gupta picked up two wickets for Lalitpur whereas Manisha Upadhyay and Yashu Pandey also took one wicket apiece.

The Bhaktapur District Cricket Association, with support from CAN and the Bagmati Province Cricket Association, organized a week-long tournament. Six men’s teams and three women’s teams competed at the Mulpani Cricket Ground (upper).
