Chauraha clinch Dhangadi Cricket League 3 title

Kathmandu – Chauraha wins the third edition of Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadi Cricket League (DCL) by defeating CYC Attariya in an exciting super over at Dhangadhi on Saturday, March 26.

Winning the toss, Chauraha put a fighting total of 146 losing 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Dipendra Thapa was the highest scorer with 37 runs while he was equally supported by Yogendra Karki (26) and Bipin Rawal (20).

Surendra Chand and Prem Tamang grabbed four and two wickets respectively for the team Attariya.

During the chase, Spirited batting performance from Nepal U19 allrounder Prem Tamang, who managed 63 runs, helped Attariya to level the score in their 20 overs with 1 wicket remaining.

Aman Panthi and Sonu Tamang clinched two wickets each to restrict them.

Well, It all came down to super over, the exciting part of T20 cricket. CYC Attariya batted first, Binod Bhandari was the batsman and Yogendra Singh Karki the bowler. Surprisingly, Karki bowled Bhandari in the first ball, a huge set up for Attariya. Prem Tamang came in and he couldn’t find the boundary and was run out in fifth ball. They could only manage just 3 runs leaving Chauraha to chase a modest 4 fours.

Bhuvan Karki came for bat, he played a dot first ball and smashed the second ball for a boundary to clinch the title.

Prem Tamang won the Man of the final award with his allround performance, despite being on the losing side. Santosh Bhatta of Campus Road grabbed the Man of the Series award and cash prize of NRs. 50000.

Champion Chauraha team received NRs. Three Lacs while the runner ups got NRs. 1,50000.

Srijansil Youth Club was the winner of the second edition of Dhangadi Cricket League.
