After Asian Cricket Council (ACC) objected Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) decision to let Zohra Sports Management Company,a private company conduct Nepal Premiere league (NPL), CAN recently held a board meeting and decided to hold the authority of conducting the tournament on their own.
“We discussed on the issue. Every members appealed to conduct NPL under CAN and we are alsmost certain we will conduct this tournament on our own” said secretary of CAN Ashoknath Pyakurel.
Earlier ACC had sent an email questioning CAN’s decision to let a private company run the tournament. ACC also raised the “Anti Corruption” issue through the mail.
CAN also formed a comittee to restudy the agreement signed with Zohra Sports Management Company with vice-chairman Tarani Bikrsm Shah leading the comittee. Other members includes Ashoknath Pyakurel, Deepak Koirala, Rajubabu Shrestha and Amrit Poudel.
Meanwhile,Amir Akhtar,CEO of Zohra Sports Management Company said he doesn’t want to speak about the topic until CAN makes a formal decision.
The two day meeting also decided to appoint a Cheif Executive Officer(CEO) and a finance manager
