Cricketers To Be Flooded with Cash Rewards

Just days after Nepal’s spirited show on Cricket’s biggest stage-ICC World T20, various organizations(including CAN and several media groups) have announced cash rewards for the cricketers “who have made the nations proud”.

The rewards started pouring in right after Nepal’s 9 run victory over arch-rivals and Afghanistan on Thrusday, with Kantipur Media Group(KMG) declaring 1 million rupees to the team just hours after Nepal brushed aside Afghanistan. Nepal Republic Media Group followed KMG the very next day with their reward campaign named “Nagarik Hero” declaring Rs.100,000 each to 18 member squad that participated in Bangladesh.

Even Nepali movie industry got involved although Nepali Movie are not known to make big money. “Fitkiri” an upcoming Nepali feature movie announced cash rewards for fours(3k), sixes(20k) and wickets(2k) in the match against Afghanistan.

The day team arrived home to one of the most frenzy welcomes and victory parades,  Youth Minister  Sports Minister Purushottam Paudel announced Rs 500,000 cash reward to each member of the Nepali team. “Cabinet Meeting will soon make a formal decision”, said Poudel on the day.  The government had also rewarded the members of national team with Rs 500,000 each for lifting the ICC World Cricket League Division-III in Bermuda early this year and then with Rs. 1 million on World T20 berth.

Cricket Association of Nepal also declared a reward of Rs.150,000 to each member of the team!

Despite crashing out from round one Nepal won all Nepalese hearts with spirited performances in the tournament. The proud fans returned the favor the men in red and blue with a grand welcome at the Tribhuwan International on Friday. The frenzy welcome received by the team got to cover pages of every print media. With such scenes more organizations will surely want to honor the national squad and the cash bounty for the hard working men is sure to get higher!
