Hong Kong Enter Semis

Cricnepal/Kathmandu – Hong Kong have entered the semi final of ACC T20 Cup absolutely thrashing Maldives by 153 runs riding on a rare three figure score by Waqas Barkat in their Group  B match played today at TU International Cricket Ground.

In the other match played today at Pulchowk Engineering College Cricket Ground Kuwait stunned Oman team pulling off a surprise victory by 26 runs.

Losing the toss, Hong Kong obliged to Maldives invitation to bat posting 198/4 in the 20 overs. Waqas Barkat scored 109 of 71 balls in a  carefully crafted innings consisting  14 fours and a six. Other batsmen contributed equally while  the massive team toal was built around Barkat’s show. Irfan Ahmed scored 16 of 11 balls, and added 50 for the first wicket with Barkat. Captain Atkinson(19 of 16 balls), Nizzakat Khan(18 of 12 balls) and Kruger(20 of 13 balls) all played their part in the massive score.

Mihusan Hamid picked up two wickets for Maldives.

Needing to score nearly 10 runs an over from the start, Maldives panicked and presented a spineless batting performance lasting just 10 overs as Tanvir Afzal and Irfan Ahmed tore the batting line up with 3 wickets each. Maldives were knocked over for 45. Hasan Haziq top scored with 17 runs for Maldives.

Kuwait Stun Oman

Player of the match Idrees 71 of 39 helped Kuwait defeat Oman by 26 runs. This is the second win for Kuwait in the tournament.

Kuwait won the toss and chose to bat first. Yasar scored 7 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. Mohammmad Gulam and Hisam Mirza contributed with 32 and 24 as Oman added 187 runs on the board in the first innings losing 7 wickets.

Amar Ali picked up 3 wickets for Oman.

Kuwait got wicket early in the second innings as opener Zeeshan Maqsood departed for naught in the last ball of first over. Ganzafar Iqbal and Zeeshan Siddique added 39 in 3 overs and gave Oman hope of Glory. Iqbal added 19 of 11 balls before he missed a straight one form Rizwan Ali and was judged lbw. Siddique top scored with 36 of 22 balls. Experienced Adnan Ilyas got 23. Oman kept loosing wickets and were 127-9. Rajeshkumar Ranpura came at number 11 with some fireworks and made 28 of 13 balls with 4 fours and a six  to push the score past 160. He eventually fell to Hisam Mirza.

Rizwan Ali bowled magnificently getting 3 wickets and conceding only 16 runs in his 4 overs.
