Hong Kong stuns Nepal in the final league match

Nepalese Women’s Cricket Team has been beaten by Hong Kong Women’s Team in the final league match of ‘Group B’ in the ongoing ACC Women’s T20 Championship.

Opting to Bat first at Kinnara Academy Oval, Nepal posted 109 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nepal were in trouble after losing 6 wickets for just 65 runs in 14.5 overs, however, Apsari Begam and skipper Rubina Chhetri shared 44 runs for the 7th wicket in just 5.1 overs guiding Nepal towards a fighting total.

Apsari notched up 22 runs from 16 balls while Rubina added 32 runs. Opener Bindu Rawal also scored 23 runs.

Betty Chan grabbed a couple of wickets for Hong Kong. Similarly, Maryam Bibi and Elysa Hubbard grabbed one wicket each.

In reply, Hong Kong chased down the total in 15.5 overs losing just three wickets. Mariko Hill hammered nine boundaries and scored 45 runs from 32 balls to make the chase look easy. Natasha Miles added 28 runs whilst skipper Mary Chan aided unbeaten 17 runs.

Sangita Rai grabbed two wickets whereas Sita Rana Magar pocketed one wicket.

Mariko Hill was adjudged as player of the match for her terrific inning.

With the win, Hong Kong has topped the table and will face the runner-up from the next group in the semi-final match. Likewise, Nepal will face the table topper from Group A.
