Pubudu Dassanayake joins Houston Hurricanes as head coach

On Wednesday, June 22, Houston Hurricanes, one of the professional cricket clubs in the United States made an announcement of signing Nepal Men’s Cricket Coach, Pubudu Dassanayake as their head coach.

Houston Hurricanes signed Dassanayake for the upcoming season of the Minor League Cricket tournament.

Nepal played against the Hurricanes in the recent tour of the USA at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Texas.

Cricnepal contacted the Hurricanes team on their social media channel, however, they did not make any comment about the agreement. However, they confirmed on Pubudu’s appointment for the upcoming minor league season.

“We can’t discuss(Coach agreement details) that here(Social Media). If you want any comments please check with the coach (Pubudu) himself,” the Hurricane social media team replied.

Pubudu is currently in Toronto and he will return to Nepal early next week.

“The owners of Houston Hurricanes are my close friends and I am just helping them from outside to get things moving,” Pubudu Dassanayake told Cricnepal.

“As you know, Nepal’s schedule will not allow me to do any other work,” Pubudu further added.

There was speculation on social media about Pubudu’s future with Nepal Men, however, he has denied that. Pubudu is working hard to make Nepal to the top of the associates country and until he fulfils his duties, he will continue this role.

“I will work hard as I can to bring up the best of Nepal cricket. We are on the right track to becoming a top associate country. I will be with Nepal until I full fill my duties to Nepal,” Dassanayake said.
