India brushes aside Nepal

Nepal faced second straight defeat in the ongoing U-19 Asia Cup.Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul set up a convincing nine-wicket win for India against Nepal in the Under 19 Asia Cup’s Group A clash at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Sunday. Nepal had lost previous match of the tourament to Pakistan by 135 runs. With the loss Nepal’s are knocked out from the semis spot and will play the final match tomorrow against UAE.

With the batsman failing against a disciplined Indian Attack, Nepal posted mere 136 before getting knocked over in 45th over leaving an impossible target to defend for Nepal bowlers.

While India chased down the 137-run target in 25.1 overs for the loss of just one wicket, only three batsmen reached double figures for Nepal. Yadav accounted for five of the top six Nepali batsmen, dismissing three of them in under four overs. Bibhatsu Thapa and Aarif Sheikh attempted to rebuild the innings with a 64-run stand for the sixth wicket, but Yadav returned to have Thapa caught behind for 47 in the 40th over.

Sheikh fell soon after as Nepal was bowled out for 136 in the 45th over. The spin duo of Karan Kaila and Sarfaraz Khan contributed with two wickets apiece. Akhil Herwadkar and Vijay Zol, the India captain, put up an opening stand of 131 as Herwadkar, who had scored a century in India’s win over UAE on Saturday, raced to a 67-ball 71 before he was bowled by Bhuvan Karki. Zol remained unbeaten on 61.
