Former India’s U-19 WC winning captain Unmukt Chand signed by Lumbini All-Stars

Unmukt Chand, India’s one among five U-19 World Cup-winning captains has been signed by Lumbini All-Stars for the inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League.

Earlier, Lumbini announced the signing of South African pacer Van Schalkwyk and Irish star Harry Tector. Moreover, Peter Trego and Manoj Katwal have been added to the coaching staff.

Chand led India’s Under-19 side to clinch the 2012 World Cup title in Australia. The 29 years old had also captained India A in several series. Chand has experienced playing for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League lately. The right-handed batter has 3,379 and 4,505 in First Class and List A cricket respectively.

In August 2021, Chand announced his retirement from playing cricket in India and moved to the USA, which makes him eligible to play for them in 2024.

Dipendra Singh Airee is the Marquee Player of Lumbini All-Stars. Anil Kumar Shah, Kushal Bhurtel, Gulshan Jha, and Sagar Dhakal were signed from category B. Similarly, Yogendra Singh Karki, Kishor Mahato, Tilak Raj Bhandari, Sunil Dhamala, Akash Chand, and Ishan Pandey were signed from category C.

Lumbini will start their campaign facing Far West United in the second match on Tournament’s first day.
