Janakpur Royals announce Umesh Patwal as their head coach

Janakpur Royals have appointed Umesh Patwal as their head coach for the inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League. Umesh Patwal is familiar with Nepalese cricket, having previously served as the head coach of the Nepalese men’s national team.

Patwal, who has experience as a batting coach for Afghanisthan, worked as head coach for Nepal between 2019 and 2020. He was also head coach of the franchise Pokhara Rhinos in the previous edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL).

“I am excited to return to Nepal as head coach of the Royals in the inaugural season of Nepal T20. I am looking forward to working with some familiar faces as well as some exciting new talents”, Patwal said.

Govind Khandelwal, the team owner of Janakpur Royals, also expressed his happiness to announce the signing of Umesh Patwal as the head coach of the Royals for the upcoming season And is hopeful of a successful season under his guidance.

Sompal Kami is the marquee player of the franchise, with Sandeep Jora, Aadil Alam, Dilip Nath and Lalit Rajbanshi from the B category. Sushan Bhari, Sagar Pun, Pawan Sarraf, Jitendra Mukhiya, Khadak Bohara and Rajesh Pulami were signed from the C category. Moreover, Adam Lyth (A), Trevon Abishai Griffth (B), Ibrahim Zadran (B), Raj Rocky Nannan (C), and Subhashinge Priyanjan (C) are the foreign players signed by the Royals.

The inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League starts on 23rd December after being postponed a couple of times. Janakpur gets underway in the tournament facing Pokhara Avengers on 24th December.
