Karan and Paras smash Canada

Kathmandu- A five wicket haul from pacer Karan KC and dazzling 77 runs from Paras Khadka gave Nepal a handy seven wicket victory over Canada with 161 balls to spare in the third match of ICC World Cricket League DIV 2, 2015 in Windhoek, Namibia.

Nepal’s opening bowling spearheads Sompal Kami and Karan KC did a brilliant job for third successive time as the pair shared four wicket between them in the first 10 overs to leave Canada 20/4 in the 10th over. Karan was phenomenal picking three out of those wickets, and eventually picking up a five-for in the match as Canada were rattled out for only 114 runs in the last over of the game.

Karan finished with figures of 5/26 (10-2-26-5). Kami also picked up two wickets for Nepal whereas Paras Khadka, Shakti Gauchan, and Sagar Pun shared wicket apiece.

Nepal’s chase was another devastating one as Naresh Budhayer failed for the third consecutive time without opening his account. Subash was unfortunate making the situation more miserable leaving Nepal 0/2 in 1.4 overs. Then Gyanendra Malla and Paras khadka build the innings cautiously to carry further. Later, after settling in, Khadka exposed himself dealing in boundaries and sixes every over. He eventually carried Nepal home before being out with Nepal just one short of the target. He scored 77 runs off 78 ball that included nine fours and one six in the process completing 1000 runs in ICC WCL tournaments. Gyanendra remained not out on 32 off 52 balls.

Paras Khadka was adjudged Man of the match. Nepal will play Namibia in an important match tomorrow.
