The National Cricket Team that qualified for ICC T20 World Cup 2014 were taken on a victory parade today and received a overwhelming reception from everyone. The team riding on a mini truck embroidered with garlands, was accompanied by hundreds of Cricket fans hailing the national heroes from beginning to the end.
The parade which started at the Hotel Crown Plaza, Naxal took the usual route(Well this is the third time we are seeing a victory parade for the National Team in last two years)-Durbarmarg-Putalisadak-Bagbazar-Sahidgate and concluded as the team reached National Sport’s Council, Tripureshowar with a formal program!
“I have never seen anything like this, ever!” said a Kathmandu dweller Suraj Shrestha who witnessed the the spectacle as team passed through Durbarmarg. “I felt so proud.” he said.
The program ended with a formal program at NSC. “Its very proud moment for us that Nepal is playing the world cup and the credit goes to Paras Khadka, Pubudu Dassanayeke and all other who put in hard effort to turn dreams into reality”, said Deepak Bista in the program.”
“This is not just success of cricket, its success of our country. We have been asked by the Government to set plan big projects for crickets- project that will take Nepali Cricket to new heights and we are working on it. ” expressed Yubaraj Lama, Member secretary of NSC during the program.
