Kathmandu – Thailand Women trounced Nepal Women by 6 wickets in the fourth game of Asian Games women’s cricket event played at Yeonhui Cricket Ground-Incheon.
Thailand Women 65/4 (N Boochatham 24*) beat Nepal Women 64 for 8 (Nary Thapa 18, W Liengprasert 2/9) by six wickets
Winning the toss, Thailand chose to field first in a dazy afternoon. Nepal had a shaky start losing first four crucial wickets for just 17 runs. A 30 run partnership between former Skipper Nary Thapa and Mamta Chaudary took Nepal to some respect.
Nepal made just 64 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in which 13 were extras. Apart from Nary (18) and Mamta (17) no one could even score in double digits. Nepal lost 3 wicket in the form of run outs. Wongpaka Liengprasert for Thailand bagged 2 wickets giving away just 9 runs of the 4 overs. N Boochatham and C Sutthiruang also joined the party with a wicket each.
The target of 65 wasn’t going to be that hard for Thailand, which they comfortably chased down in 15.2 overs losing four wickets. N Boochatham scored unbeaten 24 runs to guide her team to the victory. Also, P Prathanmitr (11) was good with the bat. For Nepal, Sarita Magar picked up 2 wickets giving away 16 runs of her 4 overs. Nary Thapa and Rubina Chhetry picked up wicket each for Nepal.
N Boochatham was adjudged Women of the match for her all-round performance ( 24 runs and a wicket).
Nepal will Play against Malaysia tomorrow in the fifth match of Asian Game- Women’s cricket event.
