Nepal Army to the finals, Lucknow and Dhangadhi to vie for other spot

Nepal Army reached the finals of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Tournament 2071 beating the host Kapilvastu YCD Academy by eight wickets. Due to odd number number of teams one team had to reach the finals without playing a semi-finals. Nepal Army who had defeated Haryana Cricket Federation comprehensively by 9 wickets in the previous match, thrashed the host team today to reach the finals. They will take on the winner of Dhangadhi VS Lucknow on 19th October.

On a match reduced to 17 overs due to bad weather, Army won the toss and invited Kapilvastu to bat first. A six- wicket haul from left-arm spinner Rahul BK helped Army pack the host team for 49 runs in the last ball of the 13th over. Army who are packed with players having played from the national side chased the target with ease in 11.2 overs.

In the second match of the day, Dhangadhi won an interesting match against Janakpur to reach the semi-finals. Janakpur won the toss and invited Dhangadhi to bat first on a low scoring pitch. Dhangadhi managed 89/9 playing 20 overs riding on Monider Maurya’s 26 not out from 33 balls. With all round bowling performance, Dhangadhi packed Janakpur for just 70 runs to win the match. Dhangadhi will play Sound Image Lucknow in the semi-finals tomorrow.
