Nepal beat Rain to Win after Jitendra’s five

CricNepal- With 2 matches washed out Nepal are the only team with a win after end of Day-1 of ACC U-16 Premier Tournament being played in Malaysia. Defending champion and host Malaysia, and 2010 Champions Singapore were looking for as easy wins before the rain intervened and both matches were abandoned only a few overs after the lunch break.

Nepal’s win was so emphatic that the match was completed before the scheduled lunch break and rain could not play any part in the match. Asian Cricket Council revealed that it was only an hour after Nepal won the match the clouds opened up.

The decision of bowling first and the youngsters impeccable performance with the ball was vital in making a result out of the game. The seamers Bijayand Ashsih pinned the Thai batsman to the off stump line-the result-2 wickets and just 15 runs in 12 overs.  Anil Kharel who bagged two wickets was very impressive with his left arm spin. “He was finding significant spin and bounce”, revealed ACC match report. With Jitendra’s introduction the game moved even more quickly as he ran through his overs and bagged 5 wickets in the course. After Jitendra’s introduction Thailand  fell away from 32 for 2 in 23rd over to be 48 all out inside next 10 overs, which not just ensured a low quickly chase able target but also bought Nepal a lot of time.

Nepal spent 2 hours on the field containing Thailand to 48. And it took Sushant and Rabi just 28 more minutes to chase the small target.

If the Thailand batsman had played 40 overs or Nepalese bowlers had given a tad more run all three matches could have been washed out.
