Nepal Cricket Team has faced a defeat in the first practice match of the 15-day high-performance camp in Sri Lanka. Bloomfield Cricket Club defeated Nepal by six wickets at Bloomfield Cricket Ground, Colombo.
After the completion of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, the Nepalese team are staying in Sri Lanka for the 15-day high-performance camp in preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup.
Chasing a target of 198 runs, the home side reached the feat in just 24.3 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Hasitha Boyagoda played an electrifying inning of 53-ball 90 runs with seven fours and sixes each. Ashan Fernando scored 56*, whereas Weerakkodi added 31 runs.
All Nepalese bowlers had an outing to forget except Surya Tamang and Pratish GC, who pocketed two wickets each. Surya and Pratish ended up with a figure of 6-1-17-2 and 4-0-24-2, respectively.
Sompal Kami (3-0-38-0), Karan KC (2.3-0-22-0), Shyam Dhakal (4-0-50-0) and Pawan Sarraf (1-0-22-0) had expensive figures.
Earlier, the Nepalese side were bowled out for 197 runs in 43.5 after opting to bat first. Opener Arjun Saud top-scored with 79 runs from 113 balls. Sundeep Jora made 31, while Dev Khanal, who opened the inning, scored 22 runs.
Gulshan Jha batted at number three and scored only nine runs. Pratish GC smacked 14-ball 16, whereas Karan KC and Sompal Kami added 11 runs each. Meanwhile, Kushal Malla was dismissed for three runs. Nepal were 124/2 at one stage but couldn’t capitalize from their start and lost the next eight wickets for just 73 runs.
For the home team, Nimesh Tharidu, Dineth Samaraweera, Wanninayeke and Malinda Perera picked up two wickets each.
