Nepal defeats Bahrain in rain halted match

Nepal Women Cricket Team

Nepalese Women’s Cricket Team has grabbed their third victory in the ongoing ACC Women’s T20 Championship. Nepal defeated Bahrain Women by 8 wickets at Kinnara Oval Academy. The match was shortened to 7 overs each due to the rain halt.

Invited to bat first, the Bahrain team were able to pile up just 14 runs losing 6 wickets. Ishara Suhun scored 6 runs for Bahrain. Kabita Kunwar and Sabnam Rai grabbed a couple of wickets each for Nepal while Ashmina Karmacharya picked up one.

In reply, Nepal chased the tiny total in 3.4 overs despite losing two early wickets. Indu Barma was sent back for a golden duck whereas Sita Ranamagar walked back after scoring one boundary. 8 extras conceded by Bahrain were enough for Nepal to pocket another 2 points.

Speaking to GDNonline, Bahrain coach Prabodha Arthavidu said this was all due to our lack of experience. Our batters kept on getting bowled and leg-before due to playing on different wickets compared to gulf pitches.

“This was a pattern that repeated itself in these last two matches, however, playing in the first ACC tournament had been a valuable learning experience for my team,” Arthavidu added.

Nepal started the tournament with a 50-run win over Bhutan, followed by a 25-run victory against Kuwait. Nepal is facing Hong Kong on 21st June in the final group stage match.

Two finalists from the tournament will book their seats in the upcoming Asia Cup.
