Nepal faces defeat

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Nepal National Cricket Team faced a 7 runs defeat from Vijay Dhaiya Academy in the second practice match of Nepal’s tour to Delhi.

With the match being reduced to 40 overs per side, Vijay Dhaiya won the toss and opted to bat first. Vijay Bhardwaj remained unbeaten for the host side at 63 while another batsman Vivek Rana also scored 63 runs. Saurav Kumar was not out at 39 runs while Ankur Jhulka added 22. Sagar Pun claimed two wickets for Nepal while Basanta Regmi, Amrit Bhattarai and Shakti Gauchan got one scalp each.

In reply, Nepal could manage to score only 196 runs in 39.3 overs. Nepal’s top performer was Anil Mandal who scored 66 runs off 68 deliveries with 11 fours while Basanta Regmi added 23 runs. Prithu Baskota and Sharad Vesawkar scored 14 runs each, Subash Khakurel contributed 13 while Sagar Pun and Binod Bhandari added 12 runs each. Saurav Kumar and Satinder Thakran picked up three wickets each, Pradeep Parasan claimed two while Navin Dhaiya ‘A’ and Navin Dhaiya ‘B’ grabbed wicket apiece.

Nepal will face Telefunken Coaching Center on Wednesday in a 50 overs match.
