Nepal finishes Sri lanka tour in style

Nepal made it four wins from four matches to finish the tour in style defeating Bloomfield Cricket Club comprehensively by sixteen runs at the Bloomfield Cricket ground in Sri Lanka, today .

Batting first for the first time in this tour, Nepal amended their decision right putting 246 runs in the board with the loss of eight wickets. Nepal  bowled and fielded well in response making two run outs as Bloomfield kept losing wickets and could manage 230 runs only at the end.

Anil Mandal and Subash Khakurel gave Nepal a bright start as the duo added 84 runs for the first wickets before the former was out for a well made 38(63) runs in the 21st over. Gyanendra Malla,the new batsmen who was out for a duck in the last match couldn’t make his presence count as he was caught behind for one run off Amila. Subash who was playing with 41 runs was the next man out leaving Nepal 108/3 runs by the end of 28th over.

Again the responsibility was on Paras and Sharad and they fulfilled the responsibility well  with a partnership of 75 runs for the fourth wicket. Paras was aggressive in his innings making 62 runs off 58 balls with four boundaries  and two sixes. He was the only batsman to make a fifty in the whole match. Binod started  from where Paras had left with 28 runs off just 12 balls hitting one four and three sixes.

Once Binod was out Nepal lost  track and could  only manage  246 runs losing  eight wickets in 50 overs.Slow left armer Amila Aponsu grabbed 2 wickets giving 31 runs in 10 overs while Imran Khan and Adeesha also picked two wickets each.

Bloomfield started the chase well hitting 38 runs in 7.4 overs before  a brilliant direct hit from Gyanendra soon made it 38/1. Sompal Kami who played his first match of the tour made it 45-2 when he had bowled Shasha Senaviratne for 13 runs. Bloomfield then kept losing wickets however a late cameo of 48 runs from Sadun Ranatunga couldn’t win them the match. G.Siriyapana and Adeesha Nayakara made 32 and 28 runs respectively. For Nepal,Sompal and Basanta took three wickets each while two batsman were run outs. Basanta was economical with a figure of 7.4-2-25-3.

Nepal ended their tour brilliantly with 100% wins against top Sri Lankan clubs  . They are supposed to play another four practice matches with domestic clubs in New Zealand before the qualifiers.
