The Nepali government has decided to award a sum of 6 lakh rupees to each member of the Nepali cricket team and their head coach, Monty Desai, for winning the ACC Premier Cup. Similarly, the team’s assistant coaches and managers will also receive a sum of three lakhs each.
Previously, Prime Minister Prachanda announced to felicitate the players of the Nepal Men’s cricket team with a cash prize of Rs 300,000 each in recognition of their outstanding performance during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
Nepal’s victory against UAE in the final of the ACC Premier Cup secured their qualification for the Asia Cup, which will take place in Pakistan in September 2023. Nepal, India, and Pakistan are grouped together in Group A, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan are in Group B. The top two teams from each group will move on to the Super Four, and the top two from there will compete in the final. Playing against India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup will be a significant milestone for Nepal’s cricket team.
Nepal qualified for the Asia Cup back in 2002 by making it to the finals of the ACC Trophy held in Singapore. But the tournament was cancelled; hence Nepal couldn’t feature in the Asia Cup.
