Nepal registers second win in ACC Women’s T20 Championship

Nepal has registered their second victory in the ongoing ACC Women’s T20 Championship. Nepal stopped Kuwait for 82 runs after posting 107 runs in the first inning at Kinnara Academy Oval.

Kuwait were unable to do any special in front of Nepal’s tight bowling display. Priyada Murali topped the scoreboard notching up 31 runs. Skipper Amna Tariq scored a sluggish 14 whereas Mariamma Hyder added unbeaten 16 runs.

Sita Ranamagar grabbed two wickets for Nepal. Similarly, Indu Barma, Sangita Rai, and Ashmina Karmacharya also grabbed 1 wicket each.

Earlier in the first Inning, Skipper Rubina Chhetri’s late blitz helped Nepal post 107/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Invited to bat first, Nepal had a sluggish start adding just 24 runs from the powerplay. Nepal was down to 39/3 in 10 overs after Mariamma Hyder’s terrific spell. But Nepal managed to add 68 runs from the last 10 overs to put a fighting total on the board.

Skipper Rubina Chhetri added 56 runs with Indu Barma for the fifth wicket. Rubina smashed 34 runs from 27 balls whereas Indu aided unbeaten 28 runs for the team.

Mariamma Hyder grabbed a couple of wickets for Kuwait whilst Maryam Omar and Khadija Khalil picked up 1 wicket each.

Rubina Chhetri was adjudged as player of the match for her terrific inning.

Nepal who defeated Bhutan by 50 runs in the first match will now face Bahrain on 20th June.
