Nepal starts Kenya tour with a hard-fought win

Nepal vs Kenya

Nepal national cricket team has kicked off their first-ever Kenya tour with a hard-fought win over the hosts. Nepal are 1-0 up in the five-match T20I series after grabbing a 5-wicket victory chasing a modest target of 131 runs at Gymkhana Club Ground.

Dipendra Singh Airee and Aarif Sheikh were the stars of the chase scoring 33(24) and 24(15)* runs respectively. Aasif Sheikh and Gyanendra Malla also contributed sluggish 19 and 23 runs respectively while 18 extra runs were yielded by Kenyan bowlers.

Viraj Patel and Lucas Oluoch picked up two wickets each for Kenya.

Earlier in the first inning, Kenya managed 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets after the late blitz from the lower-ordered Lucas Oluoch, who quick-fired with 31 runs.

Kenya were struggling to put up a fighting total after being invited to bat in the overcast conditions. However, Lucas hit five boundaries and a six in his 13-ball innings at the end of the innings to manage a respectable total.

Earlier, Irfan Karim made 34 off 44 balls, and Sachin Bhudia (17) hit two massive sixes in one over off Sandeep Lamichhane.

For Nepal, Sompal Kami was the pick of the bowlers, he managed 3 for 22 in his four overs. Sandeep Lamichhane picked up two wickets but was on the expensive side today.
