Nepal U19 let down by poor batting, lost by 40 runs against India B

Lucknow – India U19 B team defeated Nepal U19 in their first match of Quadrangular One-day Series, played at Ekana International Cricket Stadium B, Lucknow on Wednesday.

Nepal U19 produced an impressive bowling display as India U19 were bundled out for 161 after they opted to bowl first. Kamal S. Airee was the pick of the bowlers with three scalps (3/31) to his name.

Likewise, Pawan Saraff grabbed two wickets while Kishor Mahato, Md. Samsad Alam & Sagar Dhakal earned wicket apiece. Opener Qamran Iqbal was the lone soldier in India’s batting as he scored a vital half-century.

Meanwhile, Nepal U19 struggled from the beginning of the tricky chase. They were four down for just 28 runs in sixteenth overs. A 34-run partnership between Aasif Sheikh and Bhim Sharki was the only promising partnership during the chase.

Sharki top scored with 30 runs off 57 deliveries while Kamal S. Airee tried a quick firework of 22 towards the end but Nepal U19 were simply outplayed during the chase.

Pankaj Yadav and Shubhang Hegde produced six-wickets in the middle overs and restricted Nepal U19 for a mere 121 runs in 41.3 overs.

Nepal will play India U19 A team on Friday before meeting Afghanistan U19 on Sunday.
