UAE bowed to leathal bowling of Manjeet Shrestha who picked up 4 wickets restricting the UAE side to mere 78. Nepal chased the target with 35 over to spare. Kaniska Chaugain top scored for Nepal with 42 runs. Vesawkar made 18.
Trivia: Shakti Gauchan, Paras Khadka and Sharad Vesawkar from that squad were the members the World CUp Qualifying Squad. Experienced Shakti was the captain of the young squad. It was the first years of the Roy Dias’ Youth Policy and players like Paras and Vesawkar had only just added the teen to their age.

Nepal won by 6 Wickets
Nepal chosing to field after batting first were leathal in those days with the bowling. Playing against the 2006 Plate Champions UAE started steady as the second wicket added 61 runs. It was all downhill from there as they folded for just 123. Nepal got to the target with 18 overs to spare. Gyanendra Malla top scored for Nepal with 46 while Paras Khadka made 33.

Nepal won by 9 wickets
UAE struggled against the disciplined Nepal attack with likes of Avinash Karn, Bhuwan Karki and Rahul Viswakarma and posted just 87 runs. Nepal chased the target in just 17 overs thanks to fiery 46 off 47 balls from Fazlur Rehman.
Trivia: Nepal went into this tournament without an International Coach. Jagat Tamata lead the bunch. Nepal finished second in the tournament behind Afghanistan, although Nepal defeated the mighty Afghan side in the group stage.
ACC U-19 Cup 2013
Nepal lost by 76 runs
Perhaps the most embarassing loss by Nepal U-19 side against any associates. Put into bat first UAE posted massive 271 thanks to a 114 rins from S Chopra. Nepal then failed to impress with the bat. Hari Shankar Shah posted 52 for Nepal as Bhuwan Karki made 41.
Trivia: Nepal had looked very strong in the tournament until this match-the semis. Losing to UAE meant Nepal’s WOrld Cup dreams were cut short. Nepal then lost to Malaysia for the third place as well. The worst show by Nepal in the ACC Elite CUp ever.
