Nepal whitewash Kenya in One Day series

Nepal whitewashed Kenya 3-0 in the One Day series after defeating the home side by six wickets in the final match. The touring side also stunned Kenya 3-2 in the T20I series earlier.

Arjun Saud, Aasif Sheikh, and Basir Ahamad scored a half-century as Nepal chased the decent total of 256 losing just four wickets with 17 balls spare.

Aasif and Arjun shared 73 runs for the first wicket before Aasif walked back for 56. Arjun (58) then added 81 runs more with Gyanendra Malla (33)  for the second wicket. Nepal were in trouble after losing three quick wickets as they were down to 163/4 in 33rd over.

Skipper Rohit Paudel and Basir Ahamad then batted calmly and took Nepal home in 47.1 overs. Rohit scored the winning boundary and remained unbeaten for a run a ball 46. Basir on the other hand hammered 52 from 49 balls.

Vraj Patel grabbed a couple of wickets for Kenya. Yash Talati and Shem Ngoche also pocketed one wicket each.

Earlier in the first inning, Lucas Oluoch’s late blitz helped the home side post 255/9 at Gymkhana Club Ground.

Opting to bat first, Kenya lost Nelson Odhiambo cheaply before Sukhdeep Singh (37) and Collins Obuya shared 56 runs for the second wicket. Obuya topped the scorecard with 84 runs, however, It was Lucas Oluoch who did more damage to Nepal. Lucas smacked 59 from just 27 balls hammering five maximum and fours each. The big man smashed 20 runs from Basir Ahamad’s last over. Emmanuel Bundi and Shem Ngoche also assisted 23 and 17 runs respectively.

Sompal Kami and Aadil Ansari picked up a couple of wickets each whereas Shahab Alam and Basir Ahamad also picked up a 1-1 wicket. Three Kenyan batters walked back after being run out.

Nepal has already bagged the series after winning the first two matches of the series.
