Nepal women defeat Malaysia women to lead the series 2-1

Nepal national women’s cricket team has defeated Malaysia national women’s cricket team in the third match of the five-match T20I series. Nepal won the match by 27 runs at YSD UKM OVAL and is now leading the series 2-1 after losing the first match.

Malaysia were restricted to 83/4 in the allotted 20 overs, chasing a target of 111 runs. Mahirah Izzati Ismail scored 44 runs but couldn’t take her side over the line having not much support from other batters. She scored six boundaries in a 54-ball inning. Opener Winifred Anne Duraisingam scored 20 runs from 38 balls.

For Nepal, Indu Barma (3-0-7-1), Kabita Kunwar (4-0-10-1) and Sita Rana Magar (2-0-13-1) picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Nepal women were put into bat after losing the toss. Nepal managed 110/5 after a blistering knock from Rubina Chhetri at the end. She smacked 15-ball 27 with three fours and one six. Jyoti Pandey scored 23, while Sita Rana Magar and Indu Barma contributed sluggish 21 and 20, respectively.

Nik Nur Atiela Nik Din picked up a couple of wickets for Malaysia. Winifred Anne Duraisingam and Aisya Eleesa Firdauz also pocketed one scalp each.

Malaysia started the series with a five-wicket win – their first against Nepal. Similarly, Nepal bounced back in the second match with a seven-wicket win.
