Nepalgunj beats Baitadi

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Region Number 5 Nepalgunj defeated Region Number 6 Baitadi by 4 wickets in Wai Wai Under 19 National Cricket Tournament on Friday being played at Pokhara.

Winning the toss, Baitadi opted to bat first and scored a low total of 112 runs in 26 overs. Openeing partnership of 40 runs between Deepndra Chand and Roman Bam in 5.3 overs was the only watchful innings for Baitadi. With losing wickets at regular intervals, Baitadi batsman couldn’t bat enough runs as Chand 15, Bam 22 and Bhuwan Karki 27 were the only batsman to score a double digit. 29 runs of 112 came as extras for Baitadi.

Player of the match Bhupendra Roka Magar claimed four wickets at an economy of 3. Aakash Bista took three wickets while Aamir Hasan Halwai grabbed two. Siddhant Raj Shahi had one.

In reply, Nepalgunj had no fine start but chase the target in 25.1 overs losing six wickets. Loosing first three wickets at team’s total of 21, Prajjwal Shahi played an important innings of 35 runs off 41 balls to guide the team to victory. Pravin Giri scored 19 runs while Amar Singh Routela remained not out at 12 runs. Samir Nagarkoti picked up three wickets, Bhuwan Karki grabbed two while Arjun Chapagain claimed one for Baitadi.

Nepalgunj now sits at second position in the group points table with Biratnagar being at top with better net run rate.

Baitadi will take on Region Number 3 Kathmandu on Saturday in a must win match for both of the team.
