Nepalgunj Near Semis

Nepalgunj shortened the distance to the semi final of the tournament as they humiliated Kanchanpur to register their third win of the tournament. With the win Nepalgunj are placed on top the table with 6 points.

In the other match played today Kathmandu also defeated Birgunj and is now third on the points table behind Bhairahawa and Nepalgunj.

R-9 Kanchanpur vs. R-5 Nepalgunj

Nepalgunj registered third win in a row crushing newly formed R-9 Kanchanpur by 9 wickets.

Chosing to bat first, Kanchanpur was folded for just 17 runs, the second lowest  in National tournament and Nepalgunj chased the target in 5.3 overs.

Nary Thapa having scored a half century in the first match and century in the second to guide her team to victory, starred with the ball this time taking five wicekts. She got her third player of the match in a row.

None of the batter crossed double digits for Kanchanpur . Sita Khadka remained the top scorer with 7 runs, scoring the only boundary of the innings in the process. Kanchanpur lost 6 batters for duck.

Nepalgunj used only two bowlers-Nary Thapa and Trishna Singh.The top order fell the Nary Thapa, who got 4 of first 5 batters. Trishan Singh completed the carnage getting rid of lower and lower middle order.

Nary ended with figures of 6-3-11-5 and Trishna ended with 5.5-2-4-4. Nirmala Chand, who opened the innigs with Bimala, was run out.

Nepalgunj did get an early hiccup losing opener Sharswati with just a run on the board.Mamta Thapa and Rekha BC then cruised past the target. Mamata top scored for the day with 10 runs.

In the other match, played today at Pulchowk Engineering Cricket Ground Kathmandu defeated Birgunj by 5 wicket.

Winning the toss and batting first Birgunj posted 150 before getting bundled up in the 36th over. Kathamandu chased the target with 56 balls to spare

Sita Shrestha top scored for Birgunj with 38 n.o runs from 51 ball.

Earlier openers Rabina Ghimere and Rachana Aryal had provided Birgunj with ideal start adding 62 runs in just 15 overs. Ghimere made 17 off 52 balls.

Birgunj then went off the track and lost 8 wickets for just 31 runs. Sita Shrestha then added 24 and 33 runs with the 9th and 10th wicket to take Birgunj to a respectable total. Kathmandu did help Birgunj to reach 150 giving 46 extras 36 of them wides.

Shanti Khatiwada, Sangeeta Gauchan and Kamala Rai picked three wickets each for Kathmandu. Rabina Bisunkhe got the remaining one. Captain Sangeeta Gauchan and Sarada Wagle the added match winning 92 runs for the fifth wicket.

Kathmandu innings had just the opposite story. After a shaky shart losing 4 wickets with just 28 runs on board. Captain Sangeeta Gauchan and Sharada Wagale then added 92 runs for the fifth wicket to lay the winning foundation.

Sharada Wagle was unlucky and got on 49. She smacked 7 fours in her innings. Rabina Bhandari then joined Gauchan and smacked 22 runs off just 14 balls and did not give Birgunj any chance of come back.
Gauchan remained not out with steady 38 runs. Gauchan was adjuded the player of the match.

Subhadra Adhikari picked 3 wickets for Birgunj.
