Kathmandu – Cricket Association of Nepal and Singapore’s Multinational Company SingaSteel Pte. Ltd. signed a three-year sponsorship deal for Nepalese Cricket team today.
This deal is worth around Rs. 30 million and so far the biggest in Nepali Cricket history. SingaSteel Pte. Ltd will provide kits including jerseys worth $100,000 for the National team (Senior/U-19 Mens & Womens) each year. Similary, Nepal should use SingaSteel products during their international tournaments bearing the logo of the company.
SingaSteel Chief Executive Officer Saad Khan Januza, who is also the skipper of the Singapore national team, and Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Tanka Angbuhang signed the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU).
The apparel producers of Singapore – BS Sports will provide cash incentives to senior cricketers for their performance in the ICC-organised tournaments and will provide them with match fees along with the jersey and kits. They are yet to decide on the amount for the match fees though. The deal will begin from Nepal’s journey in the ICC World Twenty20 scheduled for Bangladesh from March 16, next year.
BS Sports is ICC certified vendor and is currently associated with around 30 international cricketers including Kamran Akmal and Younis Khan of Pakistan, Prasanna Jayawardene of Sri Lanka and Ravi Rampaul of the West Indies. While the men’s team will be provided with all gears in huge number, the quantity for other Nepali teams will be smaller in size, informed Januza. “Apart from that we are also planning to contribute to the National Cricket Academy,” he added.
National team skipper Paras Khadka said the national team members would try their best to give a good return to the sponsors. “You (BS Sports) are probably our first international sponsors and we will help you in every possible way to give you a good return.”
