Netherlands knock out South Africa

The Netherlands has produced an upset to knock South Africa out of the T20 World Cup 2022. South Africa’s loss means the winner from Pakistan vs Bangladesh will move ahead. Meanwhile, India’s spot is confirmed in the final four.

This is Netherlands’ first win over South Africa in any format, and with this win, the Netherlands have now given themselves a great chance to qualify for the next World Cup – the top four teams in both the Super 12 groups get a direct qualification.

Invited to bat first at the Adelaide Oval, The Dutch side posted a fighting total of 158. Ackerman scored an unbeaten 41, while Myburgh and Tom Cooper assisted 37 and 35 runs respectively. Keshav Maharaj grabbed a couple of wickets for Proteas.

In reply, No Proteas batter could do any special as they fell 13 runs short. Brandon Glover dismissed Miller and Parnell in the 16th over to switch the momentum toward the Dutch side, he also dismissed dangerous-looking Rossouw for 25. Fred Klassen and Bas de Leede also pocketed a couple of wickets each.
