NPL Twenty20 Postponed Indefinitely

Kathmandu – The Zohora Sports Management (ZSM) postponed its franchise-based Twenty20 tournament for indefinite period to solve technical issues.

According to ZSM issued press release the tournament was delayed owing to issues in team preparation, promotion. The release also points out that the delay would help franchises to ensure participation of foreign players. TU Ground Staff’s protest has also been listed in the release as one of the reasons for postponing the event.

The lucrative Nepal Premier League (NPL)’s T20 leg scheduled between 7th-17th June had received several blows during the buildup of the event with disputes against Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and even the franchises. CAN which was once the main organizer of the NPL, had pulled off from the event, accusing ZSM of lack of transparency just a day before the start of NPL’s One Day leg.

“We had a thorough discussions with all the owners recently, the owners need more time for internal preparations, promotions and acquiring overseas players as per the need of the team. So I am consulting for the new dates that shall be revealed soon. Moreover the strike of TU ground staff has been the other hindrance that looks uncertain too to be resolved anytime soon”, said Aamir Akhtar, CEO of ZSM.
