Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Airee score big in Nepal’s massive win

The Nepalese Cricket Team has registered a massive win in the second warm-up match against Ontario. Nepal thrashed the home side by 55 runs in a T20 match.

Opting to bat first at King City, Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee’s electrifying inning saw Nepal cruising past the 200 mark. Airee hammered 27 balls 54 with 6 fours and 2 biggies whereas Nepal’s captain for the day, Rohit struck an unbeaten 71 from just 31 balls, smashing 5 fours and equal sixes. Pawan Sarraf and Dev Khanal also assisted 37 and 20 runs respectively.

Hassan Mirza, Varun Sehdev, Raymond Bynoe, and Keenan Tinto grabbed one wicket each for Ontario.

In reply, Ontario were packed up for 154 runs, following the bizarre running between the wickets, causing four run-outs. Ontario were in a decent position with 72/1 in 8 overs after 69 runs stand between Jade Padmore (37) and Varun Sehdev who scored 50 runs from 33 balls. Former Nepali Cricketer, Naresh Budhayer also scored 41 runs with a couple of sixes and four each.

Sompal Kami grabbed two wickets for Nepal whilst, Kishore Mahato, Aadil Aalam, and Karan Kc pocketed one wicket each.

Nepal’s fixture with Canada is pushed further after the additional warm-up match. Nepal now will play two 50-over matches on 5th and 6th July respectively and head to Scotland to play the tri-series involving Namibia and the hosts Scotland under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
