Rubina Chhetri performs well in Barmy Army’s defeat

Nepal national cricket team’s captain Rubina Chhetri performed well in the FairBreak Invitational Tournament’s semifinal match against Falcons Women on Saturday. Barmy Army, although, couldn’t make it to the finals of the tournament following a six-wicket loss.

Rubina received the Player of the Match award in the previous match after scoring an unbeaten 32 and grabbing a five-wicket haul. She became the first associate player to grab a fifer in the tournament.

In the second semifinal match, Barmy Army posted 158/8 after being invited to bat first. Fatima Sana Scored the highest 45*, and Deandra Dottin made 42 runs. Rubina coming into bat at no.9, scored 13 from nine balls, hammering a couple of boundaries. 

Falcons chased the total with 11 balls spare after Chamari Athapaththu’s blistering 78-run knock. Rubina dismissed Theertha Satish and Athapaththu in the same over to bring her side back in the game, but Marizanne Kapp and Mariko Hill scored quick runs to lead their team to the final. 

Rubina conceded 25 and grabbed a couple of wickets from three overs, but Mariko Hill slammed three consecutive fours in her last three balls as she finished with a spell of 4-0-41-1.

With eight wickets from four matches, Rubina is in the fifth position of highest wicket take of the tournament.

Barmy Army will play against Spirit Women on April 16 in the third-place match.
