Rubina Chhetri’s valiant effort helps Nepal level the series

The Nepalese national women’s cricket team registered a win against Malaysia in the second match of the five-match series to level the contest 1-1. Captain Rubina Chhetri’s all-round performance helped Nepal win by seven wickets at UKM-YSD Cricket Oval, Bangi, on Tuesday.

Choosing to bat first, Malaysia managed 97/5 from the allotted 20 overs. Mas Elysa scored the highest 28 runs, whereas Winifred Duraisingam and Wan Julia contributed 20 runs each.

Rubina Chhetri was the pick of a bowler for Nepal, grabbing two wickets. Indu Berma and Kabita Kunwar also picked up one scalp each.

In reply, Nepal completed the chase in 17.3 overs, losing three wickets. Kabita Kunwar opening the inning, scored 26 runs from 43 balls. Rubina Chhetri scored an unbeaten 19-ball 23 and received the Player of the Match award. Sita Rana Magar also scored 23, while Bindu Rawal contributed 18 runs.

After securing their maiden victory against Nepal on Monday, Malaysia took a 1-0 lead in the series. The third match will be played on June 1, Thursday.
