Kathmandu-The fourth edition of Rudip Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament is set to start tomorrow as 7 medical colleges battle it out for the most coveted cricket trophy in Inter Medical College Cricket. All matches of the tournament are scheduled to be played at Sainik Aawasiya Mahavidyalaya(SAMV) Cricket Ground. Host Nepal Medical College will face KIST Medical College in the opening match of the tournament.
Rudip Cup, set up in memory of Nepal Medical College student Rudip, who died while playing cricket, holds massive emotional value for cricket lovers in medical field. And because of that despite offering no cash rewards for the winners, it receives overwhelming requests from medical colleges for participation.
The 8 teams of the tournament are divided in 2 groups of four each. Group A consist of-NMC(Red), KIST Medical College, Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Nepal Army Institute of Medical Sciences, while Kathamndu Medical College(KMC), Institute of Medicine(IOM), Kathmandu University School of Medicine(KUSOM) and NMC(Blue) make of group B. The winner and runner up from each group qualify for the second round.
Nepal Medical College, who are yet to lose a single match all previous editions of the tournament go into the tournament as favorites. KIST Medical College are expected to prove a tall climb for NMC in the tournament.
