Sanjay Gurung becomes fourth Nepali umpire to officiate in ODI match

Sanjay Gurung has become the fourth Nepali umpire to officiate in an ODI match. He umpired the semi-final match of the ACC Premier Cup 2023 between Oman and UAE at Mulpani Cricket Ground. The match, which took place on April 29th, was a historic occasion for Nepalese cricket, as it marked Gurung’s and Mulpani Cricket Ground’s Debut in the ODI match.

Gurung joined the ranks of three other Nepali umpires, Buddhi Pradhan, Devendra Subedi, and Vinay Kumar Jha, who have previously officiated in an ODI match.

Gurung is no stranger to cricket, having officiated at the domestic level for over a decade. He has been a member of the Nepali umpiring panel for quite some time.

Gurung’s debut in international umpiring was a proud moment for Nepalese cricket fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see more of their umpires on the international stage.

Mulpani Cricket Ground also became Nepal’s second and 216th overall ground to host an ODI match on the same day.
