Scotland clinch CWC League 2 title with three match spare

Scotland cricket team registered a thumping ten-wicket win against Namibia on Wednesday at TU Cricket ground. The win ensures Scotland as the champions of ICC CWC League 2.

The Scottish team are at the top with 48* points from 33* matches. Even if they lose the next three matches and the opponent team wins the remaining games, then also no team can surpass Richie Berrington’s side. Oman are in the second position with 44 points completing all 36 matches. Meanwhile, Namibia are in the third spot with 37* points from 32* matches.

Scotland, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates were joined by the top four teams from the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament in the first edition of ICC CWC League 2, which is a part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualification process.

The top three teams will directly get a spot in the Global World Cup Qualifiers which will feature ten teams in total. The bottom five teams from the 2020–23 World Cup Super League (excluding World Cup hosts India), the top three teams from the 2019–23 World Cup League 2, and the top two teams from the 2023 World Cup Qualifier Play-off.

The Bottom four teams from League 2 and the top Two teams from Challenge Cup will compete in the Play-off. The two teams ranked higher in this competition will play in the next League 2, while the two teams ranked lower will play in the next Challenge League.
